Japanese Government (MONBUKAGAKUSHO) Scholarship for Fall 2026

Target Students:
Outstanding students coming from overseas to study abroad and outstanding students already residing in Japan.

  • 2 students entering the master’s program

  • 2 students entering the doctoral program

Period of Scholarship:

  • Master’s course: 2 years

  • Doctoral course: 3 years

Scholarship Benefits (Allowance):

  • Master’s course: 144,000 yen per month

  • Doctoral course: 145,000 yen per month

Admission and Tuition Fees:
Admission and tuition fees will not be charged to the recipients
(The host university will bear the cost)

The Graduate School of Science and Engineering has had the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) Special Priority Placement Program, which provides Japanese Government Scholarships for international students.

This is a cross-disciplinary educational program that teaches environmentally conscious design, focusing on decarbonization and green energy. Targeting international students, mainly from Southeast Asia, it aims to develop future leaders with knowledge in environmental science who will take on leadership roles in their countries and industries.

If academic performance is equal, priority will be given to applicants from universities that have an MOU with Akita University.


Important Notes:
Successful candidates for this program will need to take and pass the graduate school entrance examination scheduled to be held in 2026.
